21st Century Development
A collaborative effort of AIA Minnesota, the Center for Sustainable Building Research and McKnight Foundation, 21st Century Development is a model for the creation of regenerative communities—communities that strive to provide a healthy environment for all people and living systems now and in a dynamic future.
With visual elements and initial page design created by University of Minnesota designers, AIA Minnesota asked LN Design Co. to develop the final form for the 21st Century Development website, the initiative’s main communication vehicle. LND developed additional page design, illustrative elements, responsive design, and sourced stock and publicly-available images to depict the framework’s performance areas and case studies. LND also re-imagined the model’s matrix of performance levels to create an intuitive user experience that supported the purpose of the matrix.
LN Design partnered with Emergent Software to build the live site and custom, easy-to-use Umbraco-based content management system. Under a tight deadline, Emergent’s expert programmers developed a pixel-perfect website and provided training to AIA staff for implementation of the site’s wealth of information.
